Marivi Lorido Garcia was born in 1958 in Cuba and relocated to the United States at an early age with her parents who were originally from Spain. She and Andy Garcia both had similar exile experiences from Cuba, Andy's family leaving Havana for Miami when he was 5 years old after Castro ordered parents to give up the rights to their own children. After attending school in Miami, Marivi studied film production in New York and worked as a model for a time under IMG, per Married Biography.
She was a producer on the film "Just the Ticket" from 1998, starring her husband Andy Garcia and Andie MacDowell. MacDowell was also a producer on the film. Experienced with producing several other films that featured her husband and years of working in the business, the two founded their own production company, CineSon Entertainment.
